The world was watching as the puck dropped in St. Catharines for the 2016 IIHF U18 Women’s World Hockey Championship. For those who could not be at the Meridian Centre to watch the 17 action-packed games from Jan. 8 to 14, Niagara College students were on the scene, keeping their ‘stick on the ice’ to broadcast the tournament around the globe.
Meet some of the College’s Broadcasting: Radio, Television and Film students who handled the production and on-air aspects of 17 game broadcasts on Hockey Canada’s website (up to the gold medal game, which was broadcast by TSN). See how this unique opportunity to showcase their skills at an international tournament helped them bridge the gap between student and professional.
