NC shaped my experience as an entrepreneur and business owner by helping me learn hands-on throughout my entire program of Event Management. Having the support of staff and professors was a major factor towards how my mind as a business owner was formed because they were constantly supporting and guiding us in the right direction.
Graduating into an uncertain job market during COVID-19 presented Courtney with many challenges, but also an opportunity. While in casual conversation with a friend Courtney expressed a desire to create her own business, a swimwear company which would promote body positivity and. help women feel confident in their own bodies. This conversation would be the start of Zahara’s entrepreneurial path leading to the birth of Rare Collectives.
Launching in June 2020, Rare Collectives quickly amassed a loyal customer base and the company exploded in popularity. Less than a year in, Zahara has already generated substantial sales and continues to grow. Zahara attributes much of business acumen to the learning opportunities made possible at Niagara College.
“The Event Management Program at Niagara College gave me many opportunities of learning towards myentrepreneurship journey. NC prepared me a lot for industry challenges as they gave us the opportunity of connecting to real businesses in the region. My placement with Niagara College was another major opportunity that stands out when I think of my NC experience as I actually had the chance of working alongside working professionals in another hands-on setting.”
