My experience at Niagara College really helped me understand what I wanted out of my career and prepared me for roles I have now. From helping me drop the "like" and "ums" out of my vocabulary to preparing me for the competitiveness of the industry, the teachers were always on hand to give out advice and teach the fundamentals of what was to come.

From humble beginnings at CRNC The Heat to hosting an evening show on  CHUM 104.5 and hosting iHeartRadio Nights on Virgin Radio, Shannon Burns has comfortably found her place in the Canadian radio scene.

Shannon’s desire to pursue a career in radio started with inspiration coming from watching the VJs on Much Music perform. She was fascinated with how they were always breaking trending stories and had the opportunity to engage with celebrities. When the time came to go to college, Burns landed on Niagara College as she was intrigued that the Broadcasting – Radio, Television and Film program would enable her to experience all three areas under a single program.

After graduating, Burns would kickstart her career in radio by relocating to Alberta and co-hosting the 105.3 ROCK morning show in Medicine Hat and later Virgin 104.9 Radio Station. When the opportunity arose, Burns would take a job back home in Toronto with CHUM 104.5, where many of you may have heard her on air.
